Have you been wondering us: "What can we do to help those who helped our troops, those in crisis, who are trying to flee Afghanistan?"
CFC and their partners welcome those Afghan interpreters and others who provided support to the U.S. Armed Forces or at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, as part of the US State Department Special Immigration Visa (SIV) program. Rochester is one of 25 cities in the US to welcome families in this situation, and many of them are grateful to now call Rochester their new home. Through the support of the local community, Catholic Family Centers provides essentials to help these families get settled here in their new home.
There are several ways you can help, including the simple act of checking in on your Afghan neighbors to offer your support, and to keep all affected by this situation in your hearts, and in your prayers.

We can help Haitian refugees, too, through Catholic Relief Services. This national organization is helping the refugees being deported back to Haiti by helping to improve the circumstances in that country that are causing so many to flee.
For more than 60 years, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has worked in Haiti to tackle poverty, create more powerful and just societies, and help communities develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills to bring about desired change so they can drive their own recovery and development. Partnering with the Catholic Church, the Government of Haiti, and more than 200 faith-based and community-based organizations, the work continues.
CRS responds to emergencies, provides agriculture assistance, supports education and works to enhance the health care system throughout the country. Your donation will give CRS the resources to do even more!

Through the Catholic Family Center’s Refugee Resettlement Program, members of our parish helped to resettle two families: one from Myanmar, and one from Eritrea. We learned of their incredible faith, strength in adversity, great love for each other, and thanksgiving for their new home. They taught us so much, and we are still friends with all of them as they work hard and make progress in the U.S.
